Can I Track My Shipment With GPS Technology?

Delivery companies are always sure to advertise any new technology that they incorporate into their business. That is because frequently the deciding factor when a potential client is looking at various courier companies is now the different types of technology that the delivery company has in place. The most common new technology that a Los Angeles courier service has been installing in the last several years is GPS package tracking technology. For years, the primary complaint amongst those using the tracking systems in place by a courier company was that you could only see the last general location of your package and would have no idea if it was stuck or why it looked like it wasn't progressing. Now, if a company offers GPS tracking, and more and more do all the time, you can see exactly where your package actually is and get an idea if it is really moving or not.

Sometimes people feel like they are going to end up paying more for their shipments if they use a company which offers a GPS tracking system. This would have been more likely to be true in the days when GPS tracking systems were first becoming available to couriers and were extremely expensive. As the technology has improved, this kind of tracking system is becoming both more common, and more affordable within the courier industry. That means that now that companies are ending up on a level playing field as far as tracking technology is concerned there is no inflation of the rates to be expected just because a company does have GPS capability.

If you find a company that has a large surcharge on their shipments because they are offering GPS tracking technology, then you might want to spend some more time looking around for a more competitively priced courier service. That isn't to say that it is your right to expect GPS tracking, but with the technology as affordable as it is now there is no excuse for exorbitant surcharges to be assessed for the service.

Of course, if you happen to know of a courier service that doesn't have GPS tracking but does have lower rates then all the competition, you might want to think about how much you actually need GPS tracking. It is nice, and certainly adds to peace of mind, but in most cases it doesn't actually get your delivery there any faster, and therefore, doesn't save you any money.
