Keep Track of Your Kids with GPS Tracking

Categories: GPS Articles | May 20th, 2009 | by Mike Tucker | no comments

Those of you with kids know that keeping track of where they are can be a huge job, especially as they get older. If you want to lessen the stress and make your life more peaceful why not consider using GPS tracking of your children.

GPS is Global Positioning Systems and it is one of the greatest technological advances for keeping children safe. In this day and age a GPS tracking system for your kids can mean the difference between stress and peace in your life.

GPS these days is extremely reliable and accurate. And it is so small that it can be placed in so many different objects ranging from watches to backpacks. This gives you the ability to know where your children are at all times of the day (and night if necessary).
Because the GPS tracking devices can be placed in such objects as watches and cell phones it's usually not hard to get younger children to wear them because they think these things are cool and it makes them feel older. Actually you wouldn't even need to let your kids know the GPS device is in their new gadget if you don't want to.

Older children are of course a bit more challenging since they value their privacy and don't want you 'tracking' their movements. Of course these teens are the ones that require tracking the most since they are able to range so far away from home. Teens definitely won't appreciate your tracking their movements, but there is a possible compromise you can work out with them.

The compromise is to buy them a car with the understanding that you will be installing a GPS system in the car. That way you can have the peace of mind knowing where they are and how to get in touch with them and they will get the increased independence and freedom that comes with having a car. For sure they may still not like it, but I'll bet they take you up on it since having a car is such a huge step towards independence for most teens.

The ability to keep your kids safe is the number one priority for most parents and when we fail here it can lead to many unwanted consequences. With the affordability and ease of use of GPS tracking for kids there's no reason not to know where your kids are at all times. GPS tracking gives you the wherewithal to keep track of and protect your most valuable possession. Just think of the peace of mind you'll have knowing where your kids are and knowing that if they have an emergency you can get help to them so quickly.

Today, communication devices especially cell phones have become much more technologically advanced and are not restricted to mere means of conversation. GPS tracking in cell phone is one of such advance features. Before GPS, triangulation technique was used where three cell phone towers were used to determine the approximate location of any particular cell phone. But often the finding wasn`t precise. However, with the advent of this technology, one can get the accurate location within about five meters. The cell phone enabled GPS gives ten times more accurate than triangulation.

Hence since 2005, all cells have GPS-track option and the use of it are expected to grow manifolds in coming days. because as per one statistics, with in the next three years time, the GPS chipset revenue is expected to more than double to $1.3 billion and the GPRS enabled cell phone revenue is expected to be hitting 550 million units.

GPS tracking in cell phone has its own pros and cons. No doubt it is useful for keeping track of our loved ones, but there is also danger of infringement of privacy. Any compatible cell number and its incoming and outgoing number details can be tracked through these GPS cell phones but by companies who have been authorized license for this.

In case you wonder that your calls are being traced, don`t worry, for your actual conversation is not traceable with the GPS phones. It only keeps track of what numbers are being called in and dialed out. If you don`t want to be tracked, you can simply select the "hide" option on your GPS phone any time to opt out of the service.

Big GPS Fleet Tracking Deal Shows State Of Economy

Categories: GPS Articles | May 4th, 2009 | by Mike Tucker | no comments

A GPS fleet tracking company, Homeland Integrated Security Systems, Inc. has made known that it has found a buyer for its product. The deal is expected to land the company a sum of money in excess of 200 thousand dollars. The deal is said to have been made with a large national security company for a certain number of Homeland Integrated Security Systems' CT-410 model security and data tracker.

The security company, said to have a large customer base in the US, Puerto Rico and the Bahamas is planning on using these devices to help manage its service fleet which is responsible for doing much of the companies installation work. The benefits of GPS fleet tracking are becoming increasingly well known across the country and more and more high profile companies are taking on the this technological aid to streamline production and improve their bottom line.

The top brass of the security company is obviously willing to invest a very large sum of money on this new technology because they believe that it will make and immediate and long lasting impact on the performance of their business.

Studies show that fleets that employ some form of GPS technology see work orders filled increase by 25% in the two years after GPS implementation. That means that by giving GPS to your fleet's vehicles you can effectively increase your workforce without having to pay anyone more money. In fact, you probably get more bang for you buck from the pay roll you are already spending.

The fact that this is such a big deal also goes to show you that GPs technology is hear to stay. If the company involved in the purchase thought that the technology was a fad then they would never have bought it.

Another thing that this shows is that there are some serious issues with worker productivity in America. Workers tend to be overly lazy and don't give their best efforts to their employers. As a result employers are forced to monitor worker activity and to create incentives and punishments for good and bad behavior respectively. If workers worked hard all the time there would be no need for most employers to implement a GPS solution.

The decentralized nature of these types of businesses requires that there be a very efficient and knowledgeable central headquarters, and GPS technology makes that happen for small and large vehicle fleets.

This deal also shows that fuel prices are becoming an increasing problem for businesses large and small all across the nation. Couriers Implementing GPS Tracking

Categories: GPS Articles | May 1st, 2009 | by Mike Tucker | no comments

Normally speaking, a local courier service that does utilize GPS tracking of their shipments as part of their operations is going to advertise this fact clearly on their webpage. If you read the page or any other marketing materials that the company puts out, then it is probably a safe bet that they don't offer GPS tracking if it is not already mentioned, unless they have just implemented it and have not had a chance to update their marketing materials. GPS tracking is definitely a selling point for a courier, so if they use it, you should expect to hear about it.

If a courier does advertise that they offer GPS tracking on their shipments but you have never done business with them before, be sure to ask if the activation of the GPS tracking feature will mean that you are assessed a surcharge. If a company is new to the technology they may only have a certain number of GPS equipped units that can perform this function, and may charge for its usage. However, a local courier service is required to grant full disclosure of fees, so simply ask and you can be sure you'll get a straight answer.

Many different courier companies will decide for their own reasons whether or not to assess a surcharge for the use of their GPS tracking services on your shipments. This depends on a variety of factors, such as the availability of GPS enabled units, as well as the profit the company feels they could make either way. Some will view the fee as a way to raise charges and profitability, while others will view it as a value added service that will bring them in more customers if they don't pay for it in the long run.

A less reputable courier service that offers you GPS tracking at a fee isn't really offering you something that you need most of the time. Simply enabling the option for GPS tracking isn't likely to either make your delivery much more secure, and certainly will not speed it to its destination. The only time that such a feature might be worthwhile at an added price would be for insurance purposes if you were shipping an incredibly valuable item. Again, these are the sorts of concerns that it is good to bring up with an account representative at your courier company so you know exactly what you will be paying for before the billing is already established for your shipment.
